A short history

A short history

Methodists@tithebarn in Carlisle were formed when a small group felt called to stay and witness in the city centre when Central Methodist Church closed in 2006.

Our friends at St Cuthbert's invited us to use their Tithe Barn and we have spent the past few years developing ecumenical ties within the city centre fraternity and as part of Churches Together in Carlisle.

We aim to respond to the needs of the city as they become known to us ... you can see where some of our interests lie from our mission page.

Our services range from the traditional to contemporary - anything in fact that will speak to us as worshippers in the 21st century and last anything between 45 minutes to an hour.

It would be great to see you, come as you are, there is no need to dress up for church. we want you to feel comfortable.

We have disabled access and toilets if required.

After the service, and sometimes during it, we serve coffee, tea and biscuits.

Look forward to seeing you soon :)
